Every year our Biblio Art Grand Prize is selected by two invited independent judges - and this year they are ....
The dynamic duo that is Genevieve Lilley and Dr Rob Grenfell!
They have been invited to take on the roles of our Guest Judges this year for several reasons: they own and run their own art gallery (the renown Goat Gallery in Natimuk); they have been heavily involved in the Nati Frinj Festival for a number of years; they are keen art collectors and serious bookworms, and they’re regional Victorians (in case Melbourne’s lockdown continued) which makes them Covid-friendly! It also seems relevant to our 2020 Biblio Art that Dr Rob (wearing his other more permanent hat of CSIRO’s director of health and biosecurity) is Australia’s leading expert on pandemics!
The Grand Prize is $2000, which is funded by Blarney Books & Art, and helped along with the entry fees.
We have now received all 2020 submissions (over 200 intrepid artists have submitted!) and we are currently going through them to make a final selection of the 70 works which will make up the exhibition. We really wish we could display ALL entries, but it's just not possible. Finalists will be notified in the week ahead.
While there's not an actual launch event for the Biblio this year, Genevieve and Rob will be viewing the exhibition of finalists in real life, at Blarney Books & Art in Port Fairy, and we will have an online "judging event". Stay tuned for further details!
